I started Lerato’s Crime Desk in November 2025 as a simple newsletter on LinkedIn with no grand plan behind it.

It started from a personal decision I made after graduating in my Diploma In Hospitality Management, to pivot away from the hospitality industry and pursue a path that felt more aligned with my long-term goals, career wise.

As I began exploring financial crime and compliance, I developed a strong interest. That interest quickly turned into a discipline of researching, writing, and sharing publicly.

November 16, 2025, I posted:

It’s definitely not like I imagined. Today the platform has grown into a space where financial crime cases, my commentaries and videos are published for professionals in the industry and those who want to understand or enter this field.

I’ve seen meaningful growth from sharing insights about fraud and financial crime. The connections formed through this journey continue to encourage me to present thoughtful, well-researched content on the platform.
