This week our story took place in the Knysna Magistrates’ Court in 2022. We have a couple, Robbie Smith and Alice Abigail Boshoff. Robbie had changed his name to Chris Boshoff after his fake death.
Robbie and Alice lived in Benoni at the time (1999) that they orchestrated the plan to fake Robbie’s death. It was reported that he died from a motorcycle accident in Vosloorus.
They submitted a claim to Old Mutual and the insurer paid out over R1.7 Million. After the insurance paid the claim, Robbie and Alice moved to Kwa-Zulu Natal and then later moved to Knysna in the Western Cape.
They were on the run for 23 years. Yoh!
Old Mutual had received a tip-off that Robbie was apparently alive and that his wife (Alice) had filed a fraudulent claim.
